Some of you may recall me posting an iphone picture from this same spot on my Instagram. I received a lot of feedback on this image and I have to admit it was one of those instances of divine intervention where everything just fell into place. We had missed our gaming drive through this park the night before, and in order to stay on schedule, our driver suggested we do a morning game drive right after sunrise. So bright and early my travel buddy Isaac and I were packed and ready to explore. We drove into the park, and just at the entrance our driver stopped to pay the entrance fee. Without hesitating, Isaac and I jumped out of the vehicle, cameras in hand, as we could not believe this sight before us. We couldn't help ourselves and started snapping away. In fact, I had one camera hanging off my wrist as I was shooting with my other camera.
Lake Nakuru is known for its wildlife, specifically its large population of flamingos, however at the time of year we visited, they had migrated elsewhere. We did spot some rhinos, hippos, and were even aggressively chased by some baboons, (thank God for our driver getting us out of that situation quickly!) But by in large, witnessing sunrise from the entrance was a sight I will never forget. For my photographer friends, this image is straight out of camera, with absolutely no editing.
