I love photographing families and weddings and one area I've expanding into this year is photographing fashion editorials.  Editorials are a whole different ball game when it comes to photography with the styling, wardrobe, booking hair and makeup artists as well as models.  I'm enjoying it tremendously and have been fourtunate to have a couple editorials already published, however I'm finding they are pushing my limits and causing me to step outside my normal thinking in regards to lighting, posing and storytelling, but doing so in a good way.  It has not only taking my skill level up a notch, but I'm happy to say has also made a positive impact on photographing families and weddings as well.

The hardest part of photographing editorials is not being able to release the images and share those until the magazines publishes them first.  The best part is making new friends.  So here's a quick behind the scenes image from my latest editoril with model Whitney, Makeup artist LaShana, and photography assistant Marissa.  We had a blast at the session making it a fully collaborative process, and coming up with some amazing and impactful images of something I've never done before.

These images were capture by Marissa which were originally posted on my Instagram account.  You can follow me there at @ytajik.

And thank you to LaShana for posting this behind the scenes image (her Instragram name @loveshananicole).

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT yasmin

I believe in real moments and chasing sunsets. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments.

I believe in creating images that demand to be printed—framed in fine art materials and displayed as the heirlooms they're meant to become. My approach is both editorial and intimate, capturing not just faces but the emotional landscape of your life. Each portrait is thoughtfully composed to reveal your authentic story while honoring the beauty of the world around you. Your journey is extraordinary and entirely your own, and I'm here to preserve it with the artistry it deserves.
