Jamil & Ratna ~ Scottsdale, AZ

I love Arizona.  I love visiting there, I love the Spring wildflower bloom, I love the heat, and I love that my family lives there.  Two lovelies that live there are my little brother Jamil, and his wife Ratna.  I know I may be biased, but they are so much fun to be around.  There's never a dull moment with my brother's dry sense of humor, and Ratna is true to the meaning of her name, a jewel.

Ever since Jamil & Ratna were married over 2 years ago, I haven't been able to get an image out of my mind.  It is of Ratna wearing a traditional Pakistani shalwar chemise in lavendar, and my brother in a matching lavendar shirt and black pants.  I knew one day I would photograph them in these outfits, so when we made plans for this session, I specifically put a request in for those outfits.  As you can see, they both looked stunning, even playing off the lavendar flowers blooming at the Montelucia Resort (www.icmontelucia.com).  I couldn't have asked for a better couple or location to photograph and am eagerly looking forward to photographing an Indian wedding at the Montelucia later this year.

This is one of my favorites from the session.  Look at how gorgeous Ratna is!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT yasmin

I believe in real moments and chasing sunsets. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments.

I believe in creating images that demand to be printed—framed in fine art materials and displayed as the heirlooms they're meant to become. My approach is both editorial and intimate, capturing not just faces but the emotional landscape of your life. Each portrait is thoughtfully composed to reveal your authentic story while honoring the beauty of the world around you. Your journey is extraordinary and entirely your own, and I'm here to preserve it with the artistry it deserves.
