We are officially in monsoon season here in Las Vegas. I always feel odd saying that because Las Vegas only gets about 4″ of rain a year, but alas those little rains tend to produce massive flash floods here in the Valley along with a few lighitng and thunder storms. Our lighting storms are not nearly as spectacular as those in Arizona, but I did happen to catch some of those light beams criss-crossing our skies just the other night. It was early evening and typically when it rains I try to stay home so as not to get caught in a flash flood or an accident. And when I could see the flashes of lightening illuminating my bedroom as I tried to watch tv, I knew I had to run downstairs and grab my tripod and gear. I set up right next to the sliding glass door in my bedroom, just off the balcony and started shooting. Of course there were a few hits and misses, but I'm pretty happy with this one. if you look closesly you can barely see the Luxor light on the right side of the frame too.
